Why do you need a project leader for your business changes?
We have worked with many companies over the years, the implementation of software and business changes to meet the market and legislation changes and we have found that you need to have a project manager in place with the time, energy and skills to run a project whether it is big or small.

The same project manager must be available for the duration of the project and monitor the steps and execution to the end.  The project manager must be supplied with the authorisation to call on resources from all parts of the organisation, both senior and junior.

Larger projects can be broken into small projects, so that you can achieve your goals and time frames.  All communications are challenged through the Project Leader, this ensures that all parties are satisfied and the items are ticked off as completed/re-investigated e.t.c.

Leading a project towards success requires the manager to get the work done by the team members efficiently and effectively.  It requires the person to have a clear vision, clarity in reason, practical in scheduling and the ability to attract a talented and efficient team.

project manager is a person who has the overall responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of a project.  Most of the issues that impact a project result in one way or another from risk.

The key ingredients are to;
  1. Clearly define the scope of your project
  2. Carefully select the members of your team
  3. Outline your goals and keep them SMART
  4. Manage your data
  5. Monitor progress daily/weekly with all participants in attendance
  6. Maintain motivation in your team
  7. Manage your resources wisely and prudently.
Celebrate your successes, but remember, that computer software is only a tool, we are providing you with a mechanism, to get your job done, if you wish to achieve your companies goals, you need to put the right resource in place for the job.

Project rPPSR reviewed


Pre-Live:
  • Our approach towards the project included contacting the clients through email updates with a checklist and rPPSR guide and then calls to confirm if the process was initiated.
  • Setting up of the Real me login for individuals was the first successful step which included providing certified id of an individual.
  • A Major step was to configure the API subscriptions and receive relevant authorisations.
  • Initial hitches included updating the test keys instead of production keys for consumer key and consumer secret and incomplete subscriptions on API website.
 
Post Go-Live:
  • The first successful end to end project was complete on 2nd October 2018.
  • The major update is the NZBN script which updates the New Zealand business number for all company clients.
Big advantages!
Yearly renewals are no longer necessary
NZBN is updated with all companies using finPower Connect
 
Despite a few initial challenges the project is now successful and the clients are able to amend, view and register financing statements.


We encourage all clients that use PPSR and have not yet committed to converting to finPOWER Connect from finPOWER to do so as soon as possible. 

We are now moving to update all other clients to finPower Connect.

Centrix-661Updates
Centrix Updates URL's
Centrix is retiring some of the URL's currently in use for finPOWER Connect. The changes have been made in the current version of finPOWER Connect, Ver 3.1.5, and will be applied when clients update to the current version. URL’s affected are:
  • Address Trace
  • Monitoring
  • Defaults
These URL's will be retired at the end of February 2019, so before the end of February 2019 all Centrix users using the Address Trace, Monitoring or Defaults need to upgrade to 3.1.5 or higher.

emPOWER Address Interface
 
Recently we found that some of you are having difficulties downloading the address database file from within emPOWER. This is caused by a fault in the application's path to the website where the downloads are held.  The error presents itself with an error message that looks like this;

The solution is to manually download the file from our website, https://www.intersoft.co.nz/Download/DownloadDetails.aspx?id=AddressListFull.NZ , save it, to the emdata software folder, unzip the archive, and then use the "Import File" button to bring the resulting file into emPOWER.

We've seen several cases of customised stationery from emPOWER, where Narration Lines and Comments are being repeated several times.


This may have started happening after recent upgrades to Microsoft Office.


We can arrange for the affected templates to be modified, but this will incur a small charge.

Amanda has purchased a business of her own here in Geraldine, which means we will still get to catch up with her and enjoy the happenings and achievements of her three boys.

FreightMan
Fuel Adjustment Factor (FAF)
The Fuel Adjustment Factor or FAF is a surcharge added to your freight rates to cover the fluctuating cost of fuel.  This is becoming a major consideration in your freight pricing. 

FAF charges in FreightMan are posted at the time of emPOWER upload and are specific to your Companies requirements.

Customer and item exclusions are possible and these can be at varying steps. 

Your invoices display a line explaining the percentage value of the FAF applied.

Before making this change in FreightMan, you will need to advise your customers.  Letters can be sent from emPOWER at the same time you send statements or separately.  Both of these options are available for use.

Project rPPSR Update

Back in January 2012 the PPSR (Personal Property Security Register) was setup, with the ability to read from your software and electronically update your securities for your clients to the register.

As with all software, time moves on and the MBIE is introducing their new web based integration. 
 
Intersoft Systems Ltd have really worked hard and become a leader in this electronic technology. 

The HHA Lending and Investment team lead by Jenny has worked to ensure that you are up to the required finPOWER Connect version to meet this requirement.

Do not hesitate to let us know if you need assistance, to us, 28 September and 1 October 2018 will be like going through the tax year end again!   
 
We are expecting finPOWER Connect 3.01.05 to be the last version you need to update to before the magic date, accordingly we will endeavour to ensure you are updated to this as soon as we are notified of its availability.


New PPSR Go Live Date
We are nearly there........MBIE have released the new Go Live Date;
  • Friday 28th September 2018 5.00pm, the existing PPSR will be turned off and existing data migrated.
  • Monday 1st October 2018, first business day of the new PPSR.
  • Please note that finPOWER Connect will not automatically switch over to the rPPSR Interface.  finPOWER Connect will only start using the new PPSR once the "Use the new PPSR API?" checkbox in Global Settings has been checked.
  • A new version of finPOWER Connect is due to be released the week of 27th August 2018 (V3.1.5), for those on older versions we will be in contact to organise an database update to version 3.1.5.

Web Freight Scheduler
New Features

AMS - bringing you integration with Google Maps

AMS have developed a new feature for us to use within our Web Freight Scheduler.  We can now send mapping links in a message, and the driver (or mobile user) can click on the link and open in Google Maps.  The link can be be a place, a set of directions from A to B or a route with way points (effectively mapping the drivers run for the day).

HHA will introduce this new feature to our existing AMS Web Freight Scheduler clients. 

As part of the new feature HHA will develop a "utility" for customers to run over their emPOWER database to generate the mapping link for them to test the accuracy of their address data for mapping.

To help make dispatchers jobs easier, the Logistics team have developed a new feature to automatically email clients when a job is created.

How will this happen:

A new email contact method in emPOWER will allow you to store the correct booking confirmation email address for your clients.  From there, when a new consignment is saved in Freight Scheduler an email will be sent to the specified email address, if present.

The content of the email is completely customisable and can include most consignment related fields.
